These are my top 5 songs that I listen to the most(at work) over the past couple of weeks. As my moods change, my tolerance and tastes shift as well. One week I'm "thugged out in all black"or "poppin' a top". Either way, these songs get me through the day and help keep my sanity for 8 hours.
Von Pea - "Dreams"
I'm a die hard hip hop fan!!!!!! Sorry for my screaming, but when I hear certain songs, I feel a rush of energy and excitement. This joint, though not an M.O.P-ish jam, is one of my favorites. Von Pea (of the group "Tanya Morgan") really lays into this beat(along with Illyas, Jermiscide, and Spec Boogie). I swear, I listen to this song at least 3x a day. The sample, the drums, and the strings are all synced in a way that puts me in a "smoker's daze". This joint can only be summed up in one word.....FIRE!!!
Tyler the Creator - "burger"
SWAG.
Laura Marling - "Failure"
I was put onto Laura via "Mumford and Sons"(see "Beneath the Underdog:Johnny Flynn). Due to the current movement "across the pond", many artists such as Ms. Marling are getting some much needed shine. This song is only played in mornings(on the way work) and when I take my first break(9:45) to take my 2nd serving of Muscle Milk.
Arthur Verocai - "Sylvia"
Because I'm a lover of hip hop music, that same love has linked me to digging for original samples. Shep(1/3 of Sov Space)and I play the corniest game called, "Who sampled...?". It's a pretty lame game, if you could care less about who chopped up a particular song. But for he and I, the correct guess could lead to bragging rights for a week or on the receiving end of a 12 pk of Guinness. Mr. Verocai was one of my many winning guesses. If you've ever heard of MF DOOM, and you're familiar with Arthur, then you know the correlation.
Little Dragon - "Feather"
Ahhhh...Little Dragon. Just when I start to feel like a typical Federal employee, LD always adds the necessary ingredients for weirdness for the remainder of the day.
