Jamaal's Top 5: iPod repeats (while at work) Pt. 3

These are my top 5 songs that I listen to the most(at work) over the past couple of weeks. As my moods change, my tolerance and tastes shift as well. One week I'm "thugged out in all black"or "poppin' a top". Either way, these songs get me through the day and help keep my sanity for 8 hours.

Declaime - "Perfect"
SomeothaShip artist Declaime(aka Duddley Perkins) puts a little(a lot actually) FOWNK in my morning. This joint is better than any 5 hour energy drink or pre-workout supplement. In the midst of all the FOWNK that surrounds this song, be sure to open your mind as well as your ears.

Parliment Funkadelic
- "I Call my Baby Pussycat"
Well, after listening to the first song on this edition of my top 5, you can probably gather that I'm on a random FOWNK trip. There's no legit explainable reason(at least to my knowledge)why I'm on this wave, but I am, so I'll continue to ride it out. I think, maybe, because I went home a couple weeks ago to spend time with my mother and while hearing her stories from when she was in her 20s and looking through her 2,000,000 albums(give, or take) it kind of pushed me into this realm. You can't spell FOWNK without Parliment.

The Last Poets
- "Just Because"
There's a couple of reasons for this song being played this week. Part of the reason is my recent visit with mom(digging through her vinyl),and the other is....
TROY DAVIS.
No, I'm not going to get on a racial soap box, but damn!!! Sometimes, it can be very scary being a man of African decent.

Nina Simone - "Mississippi Goddamn"
I said I wasn't going to get on my box, so I'll let Nina do it.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

The Foreign Exchange
- "All the Kisses"
Just an awesome love song.
