Odd Future Concert Review

It's a little difficult to pinpoint the exact feeling you have after leaving an Odd Future concert. But what I can say is that I started writing this review at 2am because the amount of adrenaline in my veins was enough to break a small child's back. In fact, I'm not sure there's another group/artist that could have me out late on a school night screaming "Fuck School!!" from the balcony of the 930 club. At this point, OF's rise to fame has been well documented, so I won't bore you with the details about it. What I will say is that Odd Future is a modern day N.W.A. Yes, that N.W.A. And that comparison isn't based on the fact that both groups hail from Cali, it's more about the rebellious nature that they share. Both groups channeled their anger and frustration and created art. OF maybe a group of young kids from suburban Cali but they are just as "gangsta" as N.W.A.

The moment Syd walked on stage and stood in front of her turntables and macbook, the crowd erupted. She immediately went to work blasting crowd favorites from Rick Ross, Lil Flip and of course Odd Future favorite Waka Flocka. The rest of OFWGTKA hit the stage shortly after and what happens next can only be described as INSANITY. Tyler and the gang were everything we expected...young, wild and free. No more than 10 minutes into the show, Tyler shoots out "Yo, those two niggas up top are wildin'!! The nigga with the beard (Jamaal) and the nigga next to him! I see you!" To say that we were hyped would be a gross understatement. The crew went through all the hits...Rolling Papers, Yonkers, Turnt Down, French (my personal fave) etc. Overall, the performance was exactly what you would expect to get at an Odd Future show. If they come to your city, I strongly suggest checking them out.
