BRIC & Lyricist Lounge celebrate Brooklyn..
...1979 (MCMLXXIX)...Sid Vicious from Sex Pistols passing away..Pittsburg Pirates conquering my Baltimore Orioles in Game 7 of the World Series..Assata Shakur, formerly known as Nee Joanne Chesimard, escapes from a New York prison to Cuba... what else came to pass in 1979?!?! The Birth of BRIC(Brooklyn Information and Culture!!!!!!!!!
The Sovereign Space from the DMV, sided with AderoMedia(Brooklyn),set out to support "Celebrate Brooklyn" as Lyricist Lounge commemorated 20 years of bona fide emceeing and culture. BRIC has been a chief hub for all things Contemporary, Performing and Media arts. This non for profit organization is truly for the people and will never cease its efforts to innovate a generation of learners and community of friends.
June 23rd featured in tuned emcee Farah Burns; super up and coming Astro, The X factor USA contestant; sorley missed NJ rap vet and Lyricist Lounge alum Rah Digga; Mobb Deep front man Prodigy feat Havoc; Dj Kid Kapri's old school medley; and The Wallabee Champ, Tony Starks, Ghostface Killah with Cappadonna and Sheek Louch.
The Sovereign Space had a blast being Brooklynites for the evening. The crowd observed the new school and reminisced over "middle school joints" such as "Fish", "H.N.I.C", "What They Call Me". and "Let’s Do it Again"!!!
Love for the people yall.
