Late Pass - Joey Bada$$

"There are too many fucking rappers!!" I swear that thought goes through my mind at least twice a week. Generally that thought is prompted by hearing one of my students speak about some new rapper they like. I ask them to play some of their music and of course, said artist is wack as fuck. Shocker. Anyway, this makes me very reluctant to listen to new rappers. Especially teenage ones. So when I saw Joey Bada$$ popping up on all the blogs I follow, I declined. Yesterday, after seeing his names for months, I finally gave in and gave him a listen. The mixtape is titled 1999, and now I know why. This is definitely some 90's boombap music. Why is this a good thing? Well, because we all know the early 90's is the best era of hip hop. You do know that, right? Anyway, Joey Bada$$ is a teenager from Brooklyn and he gets it. His mixtape is proof of that. You need to take a listen.
