National Urban League Conference 2012 from Jamaal on Vimeo.
One summer ago a dear friend and college buddy said to me "hey...someone has to care about those children". I was introduced to the National Urban League, the mission, its history, more importantly where the institution is now. From then on as it is said in pop culture "it was on", and I joined the Urban League in Baltimore a.k.a G.B.L.A(The Greater Baltimore Leadership Association).
This year the National Urban League Conference was held in New Orleans, Louisiana(NOLA!!!).
Conference epitomizes family coming together to further strengthen our works in the community and to celebrate another year of keeping the mission vital. Lead by President and CEO of the National Urban League Marc Morial, we were privileged with such guest as Barack Obama, Al Sharpton, Kim Fields to name a few. Various workshops and roundtables are held to educate on topics such as branding/marketing, gender specific topics, financial empowerment and voting.
I had a blast in this spiritual city, I talked to everyone from street cleaners, to presidents and ceo's. There is clearly no stage too big for NOLA!!!
