This year's 4th of July holiday was spent with friends in a nice corner of Philadelphia, PA. Fishtown (historically, Philly's working-class neighborhood, so named due to its history as the epicenter of the commercial shad fishing industry), has everything a vibrant neighborhood should have, minus the racial/ethnic diversity. Aside from being 1 of 6 visually present black folks in Fishtown, my stay was awesome. Great weather, mixed with pleasant welcomings from residents of this trendy, yet community-based 'hood, created a love for this area, and an addition to my personal, "I'd move here" list.
